Biking
The houses have today three mountain bikes ( 2 helmets) which can be used .
The area around the houses is very hilly, but if you go slowly, there are many lovely routes close by .
If you like more a little flatter terrain it is a good idea to put the bikes in the car and head down to the coast where there is a marked bike route all along the Algarve coast.
The route follows more or less the train line that run along the Algarve coast, and if you park your car near by a station ( Link to schedule:Time schedule) you can stop at all stations and take the train back with the bike, all trains have a space for bicycles and it is free to bring the bike ( you can buy tickets for youreself on the train or at the station) .
Recommendations:
Tavira - Fuseta : The best trip we 've tried is from Tavira to Fuseta almost 25 km, passing through a natural park and salt ponds with flamingos and lots of other birds. There are good restaurants along the entire route.
Tavira - Vila Real : The route from Tavira to Vila Real is also good almost 30 km along the coast .
Fuseta - Olhao : Also a nice trip is a little more hilly (but not too hard) but the last few miles going along N125 (the main road along the Algarve ) with much traffic and not so comfortable.
Olhao -Faro : Beginning of the route is ok via small roads , but a large part of the trip goes via N125 .
